GLOFORD Institute of Innovation Ltd. (GII) is the business wing of Global Forum For Development (GLOFORD) , building value chains and creating sustainable growth for smallholder farmers in Northern Uganda.
GII is a rural-urban (RUBAN) model that builds value chain systems connecting primary producers to on-farm capacity at production, post-harvest handling, and marketing. Our work impacts smallholder farmers in the Lango region, focusing on social impact while creating sustainable income growth.
More than 50% of our farmers are women and youth, actively engaged in production and value chain activities. Through this inclusive approach, GII grows alongside farmers while addressing value chain constraints and supporting community development.
“We envision a sustained socio-economic well-being for everyone.”
Organizing, driving and sustaining the local economy through agribusiness, micro financial services, innovation, and technology.
We uphold honesty and strong moral principles in all our work.
Delivering excellence in every product and service we offer.
Collaborating effectively to achieve shared goals.
Focusing on sustainable expansion and value creation.
Taking responsibility for our actions and outcomes.
Striving for the highest standards in everything we do.
We work directly with more than 3,322 smallholder farmers, majority women and youth, who are organized in cooperatives, farmer groups, or individually. Farmers receive free field extension services, agronomic training, micro-credit support, and guaranteed markets at fair prices.
We also engage hundreds of youth in ICT and creative arts (ICT4D), teaching computer skills and providing services to communities of Northern Uganda.
GII offers one of the fastest micro-credit loan services in Uganda, with one of the lowest interest rates of 10% over three months on a reducing balance. This program is delivered in partnership with TCP Global and the National Peace Corps Association.
